Jammers Return To The Summit

Maldon & Tiptree returned to the top of the Isthmian North on Saturday with a routine 3-0 win against basement boys Brantham Athletic. The win marks a double over Brantham, with the Jammers beating Athletic 3-2 away from home earlier this season.
The Jammers took control of the game from the first whistle. They should have taken the lead with 10 minutes gone, but Tevan Allen’s cross flashed across the face of goal, somehow missing both Freddie and then Courtney Senior. Sears was on hand to give Maldon the lead after 17 minutes. Allen touched Senior’s cross into the path of Sears and his instinctive half volley left Dion Henry rooted to the spot in the Brantham goal.
The wind made conditions difficult for both sides- Henry in particular struggled as his goal kicks were constantly pulled out of play. Brantham’s first effort on goal came just before half time, but was comfortable for Elliot Justham.
Maldon picked up in the second half where they finished the first as they monopolised possession. Zack Littlejohn headed straight at Henry with an hour gone. Five minutes later, Kevin Horlock’s side had the second goal their dominance had warranted as Patrick Campbell turned Terrell Egbri’s cross past his own keeper.
Maldon continued to drive forward looking for more goals. With five minutes left, Anisius Lewis (pictured) was brought down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Lewis stepped up and rifled down the middle to round off a routine afternoon at The Drewitt-Barlow Stadium to ensure the Jammers continued at to set the pace at the top of the Isthmian League Division One North.
