Jammers Are Up Four The Cup

Maldon & Tiptree’s Emirates FA Cup run goes on as they dispatched fellow Isthmian North side Waltham Abbey at Capershotts on Saturday afternoon. Following a frustrating 0-0 draw in the league at home to Wroxham last week, Kevin Horlock’s side were looking to progress to the 4th Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup for the first time since 2021.Â
Magnificent Jammers March On Towards Wembley
The Jammers started on the front foot. An early cross from Courtney Senior looking for Freddie Sears was hacked away. Senior was inches away from giving Maldon the lead with 25 minutes gone when Cameron James headed a corner back into danger. Unfortunately, an off-balance Senior couldn’t get a firm connection on the ball and Bradley Robinson dived on it on the line.Â
Just before the half hour, Amine Sassi gave Maldon the lead. He jinked and jived to open up space and rifle home from 25 yards. A close range tap in from Sears with 40 minutes gone doubled the Maldon lead as he got onto the end of a powerful Jack Cawley header.Â
Into the second half and Sassi had early chances to add to his and Maldon’s tally. A blocked shot and attempt that he just skewed wide were a signal that Maldon weren’t going to settle for just the two goals.
With 50 minutes gone, Louis Dunne got in on the act and added a third. A brilliant switch of play from Matt Yates found Senior. His attempted shot flashed across the face of goal and Dunne was there smack home the loose ball. It got even better just three minutes later. Yates again played a brilliant long ball- this time to Tevan Allen. Robinson was tempted far enough out for Allen to defy lift the ball over the stranded Abbey goalkeeper and make it 4-0.Â
The visitors were in cruise control. That was until former Jammer, Nathan Koranteng hammered home a long range pile driver to reduce the arrears with 18 minutes to play. That roused the hosts and straight from the kickoff, they were back on the attack, but blazed the ball over the bar.Â
A goalmouth scramble saw Aaron Eyoma’s shot squirm over the line to make it 4-2 and put some real wind into the Abbey sails. Anisius Lewis made his much anticipated Jammers debut and looked incredibly lively and was only denied a goal by a smart stop from Robinson.Â
Waltham’s comeback fizzled out as Maldon wrestled control of the game back and booked their place in the next round. The fourth qualifying round will be played on Saturday 11th October, with the draw set to take place on Monday 29 September 2025 live on TalkSport Radio. Â
